Making the most of SSNAP

There are numerous exciting and innovative ways in which the Sentinel Stroke National Audit Programme (SSNAP) can be used for quality improvement purposes. With over 95% of stroke cases captured on SSNAP and complete participation from acute hospitals in England, Wales, and Northern Ireland, the “big data” available from this national registry on stroke care are robust, timely, and transparent.

Whether you wish to pursue local quality improvement projects within your local hospital, analyse specific aspects of your stroke services for a cohort of your patients, ascertain compliance with best practice tariff (BPT) measures, or initiate a national research project on stroke, SSNAP provides the tools and support required to do this. Many of these tools are only available to approved clinical SSNAP users. To register as a clinical user on SSNAP go to https://www.strokeaudit.org/Registration2.aspx and follow the onscreen instructions.
