At the UK Stroke Forum in November 2016 a session was dedicated to the 2016 guideline for stroke. This included presentations from the three guideline editors, Dr Martin James, Professor Audrey Bowen, and Dr Gavin Young. You can watch a recording of these presentations in the video players below.


Dr Martin James presents "Hyperacute and acute stroke care: What's new?". In this talk he discusses new guidelines that relate to mechanical thrombectomy, IV thrombolysis, acute BP lowering, acute imaging and stroke unit care. Dr Martin James is a consultant stroke physician at Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital and member of the Intercollegiate Stroke Working Party.

Professor Audrey Bowen presents "Rehabilitation: What's new?". In this talk she discusses new guidelines that relate to psychology provision, early mobilisation, end of life care and gait training for people unable to walk. Professor Audrey Bowen is the Stroke Association John Marshall Memorial Professor of Neuropsychological Rehabilitation at the University of Manchester and a member of the Intercollegiate Stroke Working Party.

Dr Gavin Young presents "Secondary prevention of stroke: What's new?". In this talk he discusses new guidelines that relate to TIA referral, carotid revascularisation, BP management, paroxysmal AF and other risk factors. Dr Gavin Young is a consultant neurologist at James Cook University Hospital, Middlesbrough.
